10000th VISITOR
Today I had the 10000th visitor (61.123.96.25) on the "English" web site since December 2003. I suppose that isn't bad for a private one-man site.

It's often interesting to stop most of the programs running in the background in order to improve fs2004 speed. There was recently a program called Speed-Up. Now there is a much better program by Ken Salter and it's for free!. It is called FSAutoStart. You can set all the programs that you which to stop and to restart afterwards when you close FS2004. A good thing is that it gives you a brief explanation what the background running programs really are doing and it gives you further a hint to stop them running or not (otherwise, the names are often very cryptic, and you usually don't know if it hurts if you stop them).
Moreover, FSautostart enables to launch other programs, which you may need (e.g. FSscreen). They will then start after the initial launch of FS2004. There is even a timer included.
So, once your setting is saved, you will be able to launch FS with one click and everything is automately done for you providing a smooth flight. FSAutoStart is a brilliant program (I would say a must) which you can download at
http://www.fs-gs.com/downloads.htm

Newest version can be downloaded on AVSIM: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004util&DLID=57040

FS2004 provides us with a lot of problems when duplicated scenery or afcad2 files occur.  In order to check duplicated scenery or afcad filesand to remove them there exists a simple program SCANAFD.exe which can be downloaded at
AVSIM (scanafd.zip).

On April 10 the new version (2.9) of  NL2000 has been launched. This is a wondeful job from a Dutch team containing all Dutch airports and accessories (also the AFCAD files for FS2002 and FS2004 are included). Moreover they created a  featurepanel program enabling to set the traffic, de statics and other things to your wishes. All information (and downloading) can be found on  http://www.nl-2000.com/nuke/index.php
A masterpiece !

It is not always easy to find freeware airports for FS2004 because they are not all available on AVSIM or flightsim. There exists, however, a very interesting site
http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.php where all freeware airports are listed -  worth to look at.

There is now an important break-through in connection with the problem of add-on airports and AFCAD2. It is well known that add-on airports which haven't the same elevation as the default ones in FS2004 showed hanging or sunk AI planes. This problem could not be solved by adjusting the elevation of the reference point and that of the runways
in the AFCAD program, as this worked fine in FS2002. A french guy, Jacky Brouze, has made now a little program JABBGL enabling to put the default elevation of an airport to the add-on one. There is howeverstill  one drawback, which is due to a little bug in the AFCAD2 program, i.e. the decimals in the elevation of the runway (in m) doesn't work properly (it does work well in that of the reference point). This means that planes after landing will be a little sunk or a little hanging. We hope that Lee Swordy will correct that soon.
The adjusting program can be downloaded at AVSIM (jabbgl.zip).
